-  Body has been sectioned 4 inches, and frame has a radical drop to achieve lowness. Note protruding lower front pan section, molded in.

-  Contoured bucket seats done in pearl Naugahyde and red, tufted frieze accentuates modernity of interior. The large console has center stick steering and a TV screen positioned for rear-seat passengers.

"The latest creation to leave the Star Kustom Shop is Fantabula, a sectioned '58 Chevy Biscayne, sporting a wild double-bubble Lucite top. Winner of the Best Custom Sweepstakes at the recent NHRA Championship Show in Indy, the car is owned by hair stylist J.P. Danos of New Orleans, Louisiana. The front and rear end received a custom renovating by Darryl Starbird. A special mix lacquer, Iced Ruby Red, is harmonious with the white pearl Naugahyde and red frieze interior. Contoured seats are partitioned by a chrome console that contains the central control stick, gauges, buttons and television. The Lucite top and doors are electrically operated in keeping with the up-t0-date styling. The rear fender fins have also been restyled.

Introductory note:

"J.P. Danos wanted a car that would be different. So the Star Kustom Shop built him a National Custom Sweepstakes winner!"

-   "No doubt exists that the measure of success in the customizing world is a yardstick lying parallel with the way the car placed in top national show competition. If this be axiomatic then J.P. Danos' '58 Chevrolet Biscayne 2-door rates well up near the three-foot mark on that stick by virtue of its top win at NHRA's "Big Show," the annual National Championship Custom Car Show. A product of Darryl Starbird's inventive genius and the skill of his Star Kustom Shop in Wichita, Kansas, "Fantabula" reached the pinnacle of stardom after four months of extensive facelift at a cost of $8,500. Commissioned by Danos, a /New Orleans hair stylist to create a winner, Starbird designed the new creation with a 4" body section and a radical frame drop to achieve the lowest lines practical. A bubbled Lucite top is electrically controlled as are the shallow doors. Existing 348" engine was used, mildly chromed.

-   Lean look, above is emphasized by fins, extended 6" rearward and 12" forward. Handmade side trim with bracketed round rod tub rails adds to the illusion. Designer Starbird, left, reclines in contoured bucket seat done ins pearl Naugahyde and red, tufted frieze. Large console has center stick steering and a TV set for rear passengers, radio, instruments and switches. Car was drive 800 miles to Indy show after completion, solid proof that exotic show customs can be used for transportation if properly designed and built. Taillights, like the bumpers, are handmade, extend full width of car. Color is 'Iced Ruby.'"
