The '55-'57 Chevy Nomads were some of the most beautiful post-war American automobile designs. The stylish, tudor station wagons attracted a great following and were noted for their restrained trim (except that the '57 version was a bit over the top).
Naturally, customizers turned their sights on the car. Surprisingly, though, only a few restyled Nomads were built, and none as thoughtfully as the '56 version crafted by Russ Meeks. After being featured in the late Sixties in Rod & Custom, and at least two other magazines, and bearing three paint jobs, the car disappeared – a fate shared by many of the beautiful creations that emerged from that time.
A few lucky customs are found, too, and the Meeks Nomad is undergoing a full-boogie restoration. Please check out the accompanying photos to see how it was found and what it looks like with black paint. We'll continue to work with fellow custom fan Rik Hoving to get more details on this car.
