Deora

Designed by Harry Bradley, the A-Bros constructed the Deora for the Chrysler corporation and reportedly barely covered expenses. It was a wild study in a custom cab over style using '60 Ford station wagon tailgate glass for the windshield. Entry was made by pivoting the front panel on a central hinge. The Deora was made into a model car kit which was reissued several times, none of which (other than the original issue) gave tribute to the interesting designRecently, it was restored and presented again to the hobby at the Cobo Hall tribute to the A-Bros in 2002. AMT made a kit of this car (which has been released several times); the Custom Clinic is looking for a kit to show here.

The forward-leaning headlights that emerge from a horizontal grille neatly form a sharp line from which the windshield proceeds. The strong horizontal chrome trim, matched to the character line extended almost to the front of the front fenders, nicely emphasizes the length of the vehicle. The A-Bros worked out the complicated steering, brake and gas systems. The black leather works with the yellow-gold exterior paint. Photo by Nigel Parris

Exhaust duties are handled through a mid-rear quarter panel port made from a first-gen Mustang taillight. Neat trick! Photo by Nigel Parris
